September News

Greetings to all, from the new Mid-West branch comittee as we begin this new sewing season.

I trust that you all had a wonderful summer and what a wonderful summer it was! We start back on Friday September 13th, hopefully refreshed and ready to sew. A letter was sent out to all Mid-west branch members during the week containing a membership form, which you need to read, fill in and return on the night with your membership fee. This will help save valuable time and get us back on track at the start of the new season.

September meeting: Our guest speaker on the night will be Nikki Foley from the South Western Branch. Nikki will give a talk on a "Journey of Design". Nikki will also display her fabulous array of quilts to help bring this journey to life. The shop will be the "Sewing Shed".

Library Books: A gentle reminder to those who borrowed books to please return same at the September meeting so that they are available to pass on to other members.

Challenges: You are reminded to bring along your "Summer Holiday Challenge" which is a 10.5 inch squae.
The brown (paper) bag swap last year was a great success so we have decided to continue it. Those wishing to participate are asked to bring a minimum of three fat quarters in a brown (paper) bag and details of the challenge will be outlined at the September meeting.

Villiers Sewing: Our sewing group will meet every Wednesday night starting on September 18th from 7pm - 10pm in Villiers School. These nights have proved to be very popular and a place to get advice and help with projects.

Going forward: The committee welcomes any new ideas from members for speakers, workshops or demonstrations that would make pachwork meetings more interesting and enjoyable for all.

Regards
Cecilia O'Doherty
(Chairperson)
